Montenegro can praise with the largest lake in the Balkans. Positioned in in between Podgorica and Bar, has Skadar region of 40,000 hectares. The name comes from the Albanian city of Shkoder. Skadar Lake is also identified as the Skadar Lake, Lake Shkodër and Shkodra Lake.

It also contains habitats of seagulls and herons and is rich in fish, specially in carp, bleak and eel. There are 34 distinct native species of fish, 7 of which are endemic to Skadar Lake.
